Today, we begin our PlusLiga coverage.
Following the contract extension of setter Marcin Janusz, Slovenian outside hitter Klemen Čebulj, as well as middle blocker Mateusz Poręba and setter Wiktor Nowak, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów has also confirmed Canadian middle blocker Danny Demyanenko.

Meanwhile, Kamil Szymura parts ways with PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów. The 2025/26 season marked his ninth campaign in the PlusLiga and, after spending one year in Bełchatów, the 27-year-old libero is set to leave the club. During the 2025/26 PlusLiga season, he appeared in 26 matches, bringing his total number of league appearances to 194. Among Bełchatów’s receivers, he ranked third, only narrowly behind Zouheir El Graoui and Antoine Pothron. Across the entire season, his positive reception percentage stood at 42.13%.

At the libero position, players often perform work that is not always the most visible to the fans, yet it is crucial to the functioning of the entire team. Throughout the season, Kamil was always ready to fight and brought great commitment and professionalism to the squad. We thank him for the year spent in the yellow-and-black colours and wish him all the best in his future sporting challenges,” said Michał Bąkiewicz, President of the Management Board of KPS Skra Bełchatów S.A.

In Japan, Suntory Sunbirds Osaka officially announced early this morning the signing of Wassim Ben Tara. The 29-year-old Tunisian opposite has agreed to a one-year contract, with an option for an additional season.
Europe is losing one of its finest attackers. PlusLiga had hoped to welcome him back, with Projekt Warszawa reportedly in a strong position to bring him back to Poland, the homeland of his mother. However, the V.League made a decisive move. Between the Japanese club’s financial offer and the growing appeal of a league that continues to attract major international stars, the balance tipped in Japan’s favour.
According to Gino Sirci, president of his last club, Sir Susa Scai Perugia, Ben Tara will earn more than €800,000 per season in Osaka—twice the salary he received in Italy.
Meanwhile, the same Japanese club has also signed Argentine outside hitter Luciano Palonsky, who spent last season in Turkey with İstanbul Gençlik Spor Kulübü.

About Italy, Itas Trentino’s summer transfer campaign continues. Following the recent announcements of setter Nicola Zonta, outside hitter Federico Roberti, and middle blocker Elia Bossi, the club has now officially unveiled Latvian opposite Renārs-Pauls Jansons.
Born in Riga and having turned 24 in May, he will experience the Italian SuperLega for the first time after competing in the Belgian, Finnish, and Czech leagues with Aalst, Kyky, and most recently ČEZ Karlovarsko. With the Czech side, he won the national playoff title this past May, claiming the first major trophy of his career after beginning his journey in Latvia with Ozolnieki before moving on to Riga and Jūrmala.

ā€œI have been following Jansons with interest for some time because I believe he has enormous potential in a position where players with his characteristics are rare,ā€ said Trentino Volley head coach Marcelo Mendez.

ā€œHe possesses outstanding physical strength and excels in the skills that directly impact the scoreboard, such as attacking, blocking, and serving, areas in which I believe he still has untapped potential. I have spoken with him several times: he is highly motivated and ready to make a significant contribution to our cause.ā€

Jansons has signed a one-year contract, will become the first Latvian player in Trentino Volley history, and will wear the number 17 jersey.
