Italy: Round 17 completed – Monza stun Modena! Perugia, Piacenza, Trento and Padova ok

Round 17 of 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca or, if you prefer, Round 6, of second leg, has been completed today and not without upsets.
Sensation of the day bears signature of Vero Volley Monza who, in front of their home fans, sweep an unrecognizable Valsa Group Modena in just three sets, 3-0 (33:31, 25:23, 25:21), with an impressive performance in blocking, scoring as many as 15 points from this element! Krisztián Pádár led the charge again with 20 points to his name, well supported by Erik Rohrs and Zhasmin Velichkov, who added 11 each. Modena replied with Paul Buchegger, who left the court with 16 points, Vlad Davyskiba and Luca Porro, who added 14 and 11, respectively, but they lose all sets in final.
To take advantage is Gas Sales BluEnergy Piacenza, who trampled over last-placed Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina with the same result, 3-0 (25:16, 25:23, 25:22) jumping to fourth place in the standings (next Saturday direct clash!). Not a good news, on the other hand, for Grottazzolina, who slide at -7 from their direct rivals Cisterna Volley, defeated on the field of Sonepar Padova at tie break, 3-2 (21:25, 25:12, 26:24, 23:25, 15:9), after losing fourth set with the minimum gap. The winners, led by Veljko Masulovic, who left the court with 28 points to his name, surpassed newcomers Cuneo to back to ninth place, while Cisterna remained second-to-last at -1 from Cuneo themselves.
To the top 3 points successes for leaders Sir Susa Scai Perugia on the field of Cucine Lube Civitanova in big match of the day, 1-3 (17:25, 19:25, 25:22, 14:25), Rana Verona, on Saturday, and Itas Trentino, who sweep Allianz Milano with a clean 3-0 (25:18, 25:22, 25:17). Deciive 17 points from a good Theo Faure, 12 from Alessandro Michieletto and 10 from Jordi Ramon, while Milano replied with 14 points from Ferre Reggers, but they are forced to postpone a comeback in the standings.
With the only exception for Cisterna-Verona, next round, scheduled in the weekend of 24 and 25 gennaio, will be filled with exciting direct clashes!
