Andrea Gardini leaves Zaksa: he will serve as the head coach of the Italian Men’s Volleyball team Gas Sales Piacenza next season.
Gas Sales Piacenza have returned to the Italian top division after one season and it seems they will have high ambitions in 2019/20. The new head coach is Andrea Gardini, a 53-year-old expert who had a great season in Poland, winning the championship with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Thus, Gardini will return to the club in which he finished his active career in 2003/04, a superb career that was more than successful: as the middle blocker of Italy national team he was a winner of the FIVB World Championship three times, CEV EuroVolley one time and FIVB World League six times.
Recall that Piacenza were promoted to SuperLega after beating Olimpia Bergamo in the series of the 2018/19 Division 2 (Serie A2 Credem Banca) playoff finals by a 3-0. The head coach that led the club last season, Massimo Botti, will become Gardini’s assistant in the 2019/20.
