Eurovolley 1/8 Finals: Italy is the last quarterfinalist. Turkey defeated in straight sets.

In a really not exciting match, Italy overhelm Turkey in straight sets. Without Lanza and some Italy’s players feeling sick last night, the level displayed by Blengini’s team was very poor. On the Turkish side, also Lagumdzija, today author of just 9 points, could not repeat his latest feat, 40 points against Finland, thus leaving his teammates with only few solutions to take a possible, but very hard, ticket for quartefinals. Ivan Zaytsev, author of 2 points, was subbed out halfway through the first set, after being blocked three times and Nelli (13 points in total) who subbed in for him, was the top scorer of the match. However Juantorena with 10 points, slightly injured in the second set, was the most valuable player tonight.
As forecast since the beginning of the competition, Italy will face hosts France in quarterfinals on Tuesday in Nantes. A very anticipated game that will deliver a direct ticket for the semifinals in Paris.
