The Italian Volleyball team Allianz Milano revealed how serious the injury of Matteo Piano is.
Allianz Milano ended speculations regarding the injury of their captain, who was in the protocol for the first SuperLega match this season that Milano played against Vero Volley Monza but did not enter the court.
“Following the distortive trauma of his left knee that he sustained in the National Team, the player Matteo Piano underwent clinical and instrumental testing that revealed an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament,” Milano posted.
Knowing that this kind of injury requires a surgery that is followed with a break of up to six months, the season is probably over for the middle blocker. Piano received the news about his injury, which he got at the 2019 FIVB World Cup in the match against Canada, only one day prior to his 29th birthday.
