France: Montpellier beats Cambrai, Sète blocks Ajaccio which remain winless

2 min read

The last two games scheduled this weekend in the French Ligue A have just ended. Montpellier defeated newcomers Cambrai in straight sets, while Ajaccio suffered their seventh defeat in as many games, at home against Sete.
In detail, with the exception of the second set ended 29:27 in which Cambrai was leading 13:16, the hosts of Montpellier had no difficulty in winning this duel, also thanks to Sclater’s 16 points, while Le Goff scored 4 of the 9 winning blocks of the winners, against Cambrai’s 3. The winners thus reach third place in the standings with the same number of points as Tours, 12, behind only Cannes (which yesterday won against Toulouse), and Tourcoing.
In the other match, Sete literally blocked the rivals: 20 winning blocks! Ajaccio is the only winless team, with only two points in classification, and the next week, if COVID allows it, they will be engaged on the field of Nice, which has one more point. Among the winners, Geiler made 20 points, while Gauna and Kreek put down 7 winning blocks each. Martinez, with 17 points and 61%, is probably the only player among the hosts with a sufficient performance.
