EuroVolley 2021 Qualifiers: all results of May 8

In Pool A, The Netherlands destroys the team of Sweden in straight sets in the tournament taking place in Zadar, Croatia. The players around head coach Roberto Piazza needed only 69 minutes to take this victory, outperforming the rivals in all the elements, finishing the match with 59% efficiency on the winning spikes, 10 winning blocks 4 aces too. After today’s victory, the Netherlands top the current standings in Pool A.
Thijs Ter Horst recorded 13 points, becoming top scorer of the match, while Ter Maat also contributed with 12 points. For Sweden, Viktor Lindberg and August Borna made 8 points each.

Wouter Ter Maat, The Netherlands: “Good game for us! We are one step closer to the Finals of #EuroVolleyM. Our goal today was to play for every ball, as each point counts. And we did it!

Viktor Lindberg, Sweden: “It was a tough match for us, they were just better in each element. We are not used to this level of Volleyball they showed. Hopefully, every game will help us to become better and better, and to compete at higher levels

On the other Saturday’s matches, at the end of the first tournament in Pool E, Slovakia extended their winning streak to 3 victories and top the standings, while Switzerland beats Romania by 3-1 and recorded second win in the group.
In Pool F, Montenegro and Greece fought hard in a Balkan derby, with Greece’s victory at tie break, while Azerbaijan, better on attack, claimed a quick 3-0 victory over the hosts of Georgia (although Georgia recorded 7 blocks).
In Pool G, Portugal didn’t leave any chances to Norway, and Belarus took a revenge for the defeat from Portugal on Friday, as they destroyed Hungary, seizing a straight-sets victory and scoring as many as 12 aces!
