Poland: renewed Jastrzębski Wegiel wins advance of Round 1

The first match of 2021/22 Polish Volleyball Championship featured the titleholders and newcomers!

In the advance of Round 1 of Plusliga, the renewed reigning champion Jastrzębski Wegiel won quite clearly in four sets on the field of newcomers LUK Lublin, suffering only in the third set.
Three freshly promoted Olympic champions made their debut in Jastrzębski: Benjamin Toniutti, Stéphen Boyer, and Trévor Clévenot.
Bad debut for Boyer (6 winning blocks, but only 35% in attack and 12% efficiency – 9/26, 15 points), while good performances for both outside-hitters Fornal (MVP of the match with 18 points, 64% in attack with 0 errors and 0 blocked) and Clevenot (18 points, 59% in attack and 48% efficiency). Jakub Popiwczak made 70% reception (20 digs, 50% perfect).
