Russia: Novgorod defeats Dinamo Moscow! Dinamo LO defeats Belgorod without Kovalev

ASK Nizhniy Novgorod have managed to stop Dinamo Moscow winning run in the Russian national championship by beating them 3-1 (26:24, 13:25, 25:23, 29:27) to cause a major upset in Round 9. Before this game, Dinamo had a winning streak of nine games (5 wins in a row in the league, 3 in the national cup and one in CEV Champions League).
However, despite they dominated second set won 25:13, the rivals were absolutely better in all
others: in first they made a comeback from 18-22 to 23-22,
to surrender 24-26, in third they try to recover from 21-24, but they wasted the decidive counterattack to level the score, to surrender 23-25,
while in four other comeback from 18-23 to 25-24, saving two 2 match points, but the winners cancel 3 set points to close the game in their favor.
The Croatian international Leo Andric led the team from Nizhniy Novgorod with 21 points while, on the other side, Tsvetan Sokolov had also 21, while Anton Semishev added 17 and Denis Bogdan 15.

Another upset come from Dinamo Lo who, led by Sergey Piraynen (25 points) and Marko Ivovic (18 points), managed to defeat Belogorie away in four sets 18:25, 25:23, 25:22, 27:25. Kolchin’s team, who in the morning lose starting setter Kovalev, replaced by 17-years-old Evgeniy Zhogov (promoted by team B).
A first set won 25-18 and 28 points from bomber Al Hachdadi (57% in attack and 43% efficiency) were not enough to take not even a single point, because Dinamo LO then managed to win the game with a comeback from 24-21 to 25-27 in last
set. Good performance by Pirainen (25 points, 53% and 33% efficiency in attack) and Ivovic (18 points, 56% and 28% efficiency in attack, 3 blocks and 1 ace) among the winners, while other bad day for Petric (8 points, 33% and 14% efficiency in attack).

Close the picture of other matches of the day two very balanced games: Gazprom Surgut defeated 3-0 (29:27, 27:25, 25:22) favorite Yenisey Krasnoyarsk, while Yugra Samotlor Nizhnevartovsk won at tie break on the field of last-placed Neftyanik Orenburg.
