Challenge Cup: Narbonne claim last quarter-final ticket via Golden Set against Sporting – all Top-8 determined

2 min read

France’s Narbonne Volley, still without Zanotti and with Rafael Araujo who started the match from the bench, completed the bracket of the quarter-finals of the 2021/22 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup.
A week after their victory in four sets in the first leg of the 1/8 finals of the competition, earned on the floor of Portugal’s Sporting CP Lisboa, the current third-placed side in the French Ligue A got scared in front of its own fans.
The guys coached by Guillermo Falasca squandered the result from the Portuguese capital and let Sporting reach the Golden Set after getting 3-1.
However, Narbonne managed to recover and take the additional set 17-15, despite a great comeback from the rivals from 12-7, advancing to the Top-8 in which they’ll face Switzerland’s Lausanne UC.
Tunisian young Aymen Bouguerra led the French side tonight with 20 points, while Argentine Martín Ramos set up 7 blocks!
