Mevza League: HAOK Mladost Zagreb destroys Myjava

2 min read

Croatia’s reigning national champions HAOK Mladost Zagreb secured their ninth Mevza League success, celebrating a clear straight sets win (25:22, 25:19, 25:11) over TJ Spartak Myjava on Tuesday.
Thus, they increase their points to 25 from 14 matches, to reach OK Calcit Kamnik in current standings.
These two sides are still fighting for the last spot in the Final Four tournament.
The absolute leaders ACH Volley Ljubljana, second-placed OK Merkur Maribor and hosts SK Zadruga AICH/DOB are already qualified.

Martin Pipa, head coach TJ Spartak Myjava: “Our opponents were better in every aspect. We were also very weak on attack. I am very disappointed with my team’s performance.

Radovan Gacic, head coach TJ Spartak Zagreb: “We still have a chance to make it to the Final Four tournament, so we really wanted to win. I was a little bit scared before the match because we are knowing it is for no team easy to win at Spartak MYJAVA. Overall, I am very satisfied, especially our middle-blockers played really well today.

On Wednesday, HAOK Mladost Zagreb will face bottom of the table VBK Bratislava, while Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel will host OK Calcit Kamnik, and OK MERKUR Maribor will face final four hosts SK Zadruga AICH/DOB.

Although we are already qualified for the Final Four tournament, we definitely want to stay unbeaten on home soil and therefore we will try our best to record another three points”, OK MERKUR Maribor’s head coach Sebastijan Skorc said.
