Austria: Ried defeats titleholders Graz in Top Round. Hypo Tirol – Hartberg 1-3

UVC Weberzeile Ried celebrated the second victory in their fifth Austrian Volley League Top Round game, by defeating titleholders UVC Holding Graz in their Raiffeisen Volleydome at tie-break (25:22, 20:25, 25:18, 19:25, 15:8).
Top scorers were Markus Berger (18) and Niklas Etlinger (15) for the winners, and Sergej Drobnic (22) and David Reiter (15) on the other side of the net. Ried took revenge for the 5-set defeat in the first leg, to defend third place behind super favorites Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel and SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, currently to the top both with 12 points

In Zwischenrunde, the Intermediate Round, newcomers Hypo Tirol volleyball team suffered a 1-3 (22:25, 22:25, 26:24, 20:25) home defeat against TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, no longer at the bottom of the current charts, but they can’t go any further up. Both sides, Hartberg and Hypo Tirol, will fight for salvation against teams from the 2nd Bundesliga in the relegation round.

On Sunday, VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, currently at second place, will visit VBC TLC Weiz, third.
Due to the defeat of Hypo Tirol VT, Weiz take the last quarter-final ticket!
