Three games of playoffs Austrian Volley League quarterfinals were played today.
After a bad defeat on the field of UVC Weberzeile Ried, titleholders UVC Holding Graz forced a game 3 equalizing the best-of-three serie today in their Raiffeisen Sportpark with a 3-0 (25:20, 25:21, 27:25) home victory. The semifinal
ticket will be awarded on Saturday!
Runners up SK Zadruga Aich/Dob and Austrian cup finalist VCA Amstetten NÖ take first step towards semifinals.
In the first quarter-final duel on the field of VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, Aich/Dob defeat the rivals by 1-3 (20:25, 19:25, 25:20, 27:29) after a great comeback in fourth set, and despite a super performance of Arwin Kopschar, who ended the game with 30 points, 2 aces, 1 block and 52% in attack. However the winners were absolutely better in blocking, with 16 direct points from this element (against Klagenfurt’s 5).
More easy for Amstetten, who outplayed TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien quite confidently. The Mostviertler needed just three sets (18:25, 23:25, 20:25) to secure the first match point which is worth semifinal on Saturday in their home court. However, one of their most prolific player Milutin Pavicevic injured his knee after just a few points.
