Poland: Great comeback of Trefl against Jastrzębski causes an upset at start of series. ZAKSA destroy Katowice

Other two 2021/22 Polish Plusliga playoff quarter-finals Game 1 were played today.
In the afternoon, Trefl Gdańsk, the 7th-seed, staged a great return and caused a sensation on the road against favorite Jastrzębski Węgiel (still without Clevenot), defending champions and regular-season runners-up.
Although it was trailing 0-2 in sets and, moreover, came to the match in Jastrzębie-Zdrój by losing the last 8 league clashes against the rival it just met, the Gdańsk team returned to the game in a spectacular way and deservedly won the tie-break.
Thus, Trefl came closer to the semi-final for which they need one more win, and that in front of their own fans.
Decisive the entries of Kampa (after a stop due an injury and then awarded MVP) and Wlazly in place of Kozub and Sasak, but very good also Bartłomiej Lipiński, top scorer with 25 points, 57% and 49% efficiency in attack, 3 blocks and 2 aces.
Among the hosts, Fornal struggled a lot (16 points but 41% in attack and only 14% efficiency, 2 blocks and 2 aces) while Boyer, today in starting six, despite good numbers (18 points, 59% and 41% efficiency in attack and 2 winning blocks), disappear in decisive moments of the game. He also suffered the blocked from Mordyl which marked the 12-13, followed by Lipinski’s counterattack, after a defense from Wlazly on Fornal, 12-14, and Gladyr’s error from the service line that closed the game 13-15.
Led by MVP Aleksander Śliwka (19 points, 75% attack and 65% efficiency, 15/20) and Marcin Janusz (4 blocks), the regular-season winners Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle had no problems in the match against No.8 GKS Katowice, with a clear straight sets win (25:21, 25:12, 25:22).
