Poland: Aluron first semifinalist! Belchatow and Olstzyn to Game 3
3 min read
First two Quarterfinals Game 2 were played today.
In the afternoon, No.3 PGE Skra Bełchatów had a furious performance against No.6 Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, scheduling a 3rd and decisive match for the promotion to the semi-finals.
Skra redeemed for the bad defeat suffered in their own hall, led by Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević (MVP with 16 points, 50% and 27% in attack, 1 block and 2 aces), and they have the chance to earn a promotion to the Top-4 in front of its own fans next Thursday.
Good perfotmance also for Kooy, above all from the service line with 3 aces and 2 errors through 17 serves and 58% and 33% efficiency in attack, and middle-blocker Bieniek (13 points, 73% and 64% efficiency in attack, 3 blocks and 2 aces).
Nothing to do for Olstzyn, at least until third set when, on 2-6, was able to recover. However, referee whistle a foul to Andringa for a 17-17 that might be 18-16, and then doesn’t have the same with Atansijevic (18-19). Useless the protests, ended with a yellow card and, eventually, is fatal the error in reception by DeFalco, and the match is closed by Ebadipour 23-25.
In the evening, No.4 Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie put an end to No.5 Asseco Resovia Rzeszów’s dreams of playing in the semi-final.
Igor Kolaković’s players swept the series at 2-0, but Resovia have something to regret as they were close to force the duel to the tie-break, as they wasted a 13-9 lead in the 4th set. So the disastrous season of Resovia ended today.
After a first set dominated, the match was very balanced.
In second set two serves from Konarski are worth the 14-17 and in third the winners fly on 1-6, but Resovia recover until 12-12. Konarski in counterattack, 12-14, ans an error from Szerszen 13-16, on the field instead of a disappointing Cebulj, reopen the gap. Close the game an error from Tammemaa, 23-25.
In fourth set good start of Resovia, 13-9, able to keep the lead until 16-13, when start the rivals’ comeback with a winning videocheck, 16-15, and an error from Muzaj, 16-16. Surpass bear the sign of Conte 17-18, and then another error from Muzaj is worth the 17-19. Conte again, 18-21 and then 20-23, with Kochanowski’s ankle injury. Final point that closed the game is an error from the service line from Bucki.
MVP Konarski with 18 points, 52% and 41% efficiency in attack and 3 aces, but decisive was Conte with 20 points, 55% and 35% efficiency in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace. After a silent first set, good also Kovacevic with 19 points, 50% and
16% efficiency in attack, 1 block and 2 aces.
