Poland: 5th defeat in a row for Bełchatów! ZAKSA survive against Barkom, three points for Aluron

Other three matches of 2022/23 Plusliga Round 9 were played today.
Believe it or not, PGE Skra Bełchatów suffered the fifth consecutive defeat in the competition.

Semi-finalists of the previous season and nine-time Polish champions are doing terribly this season. This time, the penultimate team before this game Cuprum Lubin turned out to be better than Joel Bank’s side after a tie-break (28:26, 17:25, 25:20, 21:25, 10:15).
Such a streak by Skra is surprising given that after four rounds they had a record of 3-1. Nothing indicated that the Bełchatów side would have major problems in the next encounters. But, since then, they haven’t won any game in Plusliga. Just like Bełchatów, Lubin are 3-6, but with 5 fewer points than the rivals on their account (7-12).
Austrian Alexander Berger top-scored the winning side with 20 points and was one of five players in double digits on his team, while Moustapha M’Baye made 6 blocks.
Dutch-Italian Dick Kooy tallied 19 points for Bełchatów.

About upsets, also Plusliga giants Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle are struggling a lot so far, sitting only at fifth place in the standings after a hard fought tie break win on the field of Barkom Każany Lwów (28:26, 17:25, 25:20, 21:25, 10:15).

On the other hand, after a super start also in Champions League, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie recorded another great win, with a straight sets victory on the field of PSG Stal Nysa (14:25, 22:25, 16:25).
Serbian outside hitter Uros Kovacevic and Dawid Konarski contributed to the victory with 20 and 16 points respectively through 62% and 59% in attack.
