Italy: Verona win derby vs. Padova to close Round 8

With the only exception of the match between titleholders Cucine Lube Civitanova and newcomers Emma Villas Aubay Siena, postponed for COVID among the hosts, Round 8 of 2022/23 SuperLega CredemBanca officially closed today with the Monday postponement between WithU Verona and Pallavolo Padova.
The hosts win the derby of Veneto region with a clear 3-0, partially 25:21, 25:17 and 25:21, to fly to third place in the current standings, sharing the same number of points with Cisterna (defeated on Saturday by Monza) and Modena (who yesterday won in Taranto).
The winners played a very good performance in attack, with 61% and they were decisive from the service line, scoring 11 aces!
Setter Luca Spirito was named MVP of the match, but very good also Verona’s bombers Mozic (15 points), Sapozhkov (who closed the match) and Keita (14 each) while, on the other side of the net, the best was Petkovic who ended the game with 17 points, 2 aces and 50% in attack.
