Italy: Perugia destroy Modena in recovery of Round 5

Sir Safety Susa Perugia is still unbeaten, and reach 9-0 after sweeping big rivals Valsa Group Modena in the recovery of the fifth round of the 2022-23 SuperLega Credem Banca.

The rivalry between italian powerhouses Perugia and Modena has experienced a new act, but the first were terrific today in the big match to further firm themselves in the first place with a perfect score. This was the first of four matches in 10 days for Andrea Anastasi’s guys before their departure for the FIVB Club World Championshipc and they prevailed over another title contender in just four days.

Cuban Jesús Herrera top-scored Perugia with 13 points (with 53% abd three aces) and was named MVP of the game while his fellow countryman with a Polish passport Wilfredo León made 5 of his team’s 12 winning blocks (against only 2 of the rivals).
Although Anastasi decided to give rest to a few pillars, Rychlicki and Gualberto, the game ended in just three sets (25:17, 25:16, 25:20) and lasted only 77 minutes.
Turk Adis Lagumdžija was the only player in double digits for Modena with 10 points, but only with 37% in attack).
