CEV Cup: 1/8 Finals! Chênois stun Galatasaray. Belchatow down Narbonne

1/8 Finals of 2022/23 CEV Cup started today with an upset: Chênois Geneve from Switzerland down Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray HDI Sigorta Istanbul on the road with a score of 2-3 (22:25, 26:24, 25:23, 19:25, 13:15). Although the hosts were better in blocking (14 vs. 10), the winners played in an amazing way in decisive moments of the game, led by Serbian Strahinja Brzakovic, who ended the game as top scorer with 26 points though 45% in attack, 2 winning blocks and 1 ace, while Daniel Uruena also contributed with 5 winning blocks.

Prediction respected in the other match of the day, in which one of the title contenders PGE Skra Belchatow defeated France’s Narbonne Volley on the road with a clear 0-3 (19:25, 20:25, 22:25). The winners played a very good game in attack with 65% of team performance. Dick Kooy and Aleksandar Atanasijevic top-scored the winning side with 15 and 13 points respectively, while Jordi Ramon (12 points) was the only player in double digit among the hosts.
