Poland: Aluron temporarily to the top! Three points also for Bełchatów and Olsztyn

2 min read

Round 15 of 2022/23 Plusliga started today with first three games.

The day started with a clear win of super favorite PGE Skra Bełchatów over LUK Lublin, and the match ended 3-0 (25:15, 25:22, 25:17). Karol Kłos with 11 points through 88% in attack and 4 winning blocks was named MVP of the game.

With Kovačević as opposite, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie continue their winning streak that reaches 10!
They beat Cuprum Lubin on the road by 1-3 (25:27, 29:27, 18:25, 21:25) and took over first place in the table, which they’ll hold at least until Sunday and the classic between Jastrzębski Węgiel and Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Aluron played in this match heavily rearranged. Given that as many as three middle blockers from their roster got injured, the backup opposite Dawid Dulski was switched to the middle blocker’s position. That left no opposites for the head coach Michał Winiarski, who gave outside hitter Uroš Kovačević that role! And the Serbian repaid his head coach with 23 points, as well as the title of top scorer among his teammates and MVP award. Interestingly, last season, the Serbian star changed his position also against Lubin, playing as a setter! Dulski also justified his new role, making 5 blocks, while Adam Lorenc put down 23 points for the losing side, while Moustapha M’Baye made 6 blocks.

Close the picture another clear 3-0, the one of Indykpol AZS Olsztyn on the field of Cerrad Enea Czarni Radom (20:25, 22:25, 18:25).
MVP of the game Taylor Averill, who ended the game with 10 points through 88% in attack (7/8), 3 winning blocks and 1 ace.
