Italy: Lube and Piacenza Ko again! 3 points for Trento and Monza

Round 16 (or, if you prefer, Round 5 of second leg) of 2022/23 Superlega CredemBanca started today with two advances (and, at least on paper, two upsets).

Defending champions Cucine Lube Civitana are still searching for their first win of the year, as they suffered their third defeat in a row in the competition. So three points to Itas Trentino, who managed to conquer Civitanova’s Eurosuole Forum in four sets (19:25, 25:22, 19:25, 18:25), keeping always the control of the game, and surpassing the rivals in the standings.
Decisive the performance from the service line, 11 to 7, as well as in blocking, 11 to 5, and in attack (49% to 42%).
Bulgarian veteran Matej Kaziyski was once again the man ot the match, MVP and top scorer with 29 points, but good performance also for Lavia (17 points and 3 blocks) and Michieletto (12 with 3 ace and 2 blocks).
For Lube, Zaytsev put down 19 punti (including two aces), and double digit also for Nikolov and Yant with 28 punti in two.

In the other game of the day, a very good Vero Volley Monza, still without Grozer, celebrated a 3-1 (22:25, 27:25, 25:20, 25:15) win over Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, that is also the fourth victory in a row. After a first set won by the visiting team, led by a great Romanò, Monza replied in second set with a very good play, above all in blocking and in attack (58% at the end), led by Davyskiba, Szwarc and Maar (MVP of the match with 19 points, 2 aces, 3 winning blocks and 64% in attack).
After taking the set overtime, with Piacenza able also to recover from 18-11 to 22-22, Monza continue to fight and take advantage also from the errors of their rivals (22 only in serving, against 16 of the hosts). And then the match ended 3-1, with the guys around head coach Massimo Botti who suffered their second defeat in a row, after the heavy one at home agaist Siena, just a week ago.
