Poland: Warszawa confirm their fantastic shape with 7th consecutive victory and down titleholders! 3 points also for Stal Nysa

2 min read

After yesterday advance, in which last-placed BBTS Bielsko-Biała was close to stage an upset against No.3 Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, other two games of 2022/23 Plusliga Round 23 were played today.

Projekt Warszawa confirm their fantastic form in the competition by beating Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle for the first time in a little less than four years, last timw was on November 20, 2019!
In the clash between the fourth and fifth-ranked sides of the Plusliga, one could expect a lot of emotions on the field, and this is what happened because the defending champions, after their recent failures, felt obliged to prove they’re able to react to chase the top spot in the standings. However, there was nothing like that in Warsaw, the country’s capital.
The hosts and a two-time defending CEV Champions League winners created a great show in front of close to 5,000 home fans in which there were red cards (both in the third set, Jakub Kowalczyk from Warszawa and Aleksander Śliwka from ZAKSA), long rallies and an unexpected outcome.
Warszawa won 3-1 (25:21, 25:13. 19:25, 25:21) and extended their winning streak to seven games.
Artur Szalpuk was the most prolific player among the winners with 19 points, and he and Frenchman Kévin Tillie had four blocks out of the team’s 18 in total, while Bartłomiej Kluth scored 12 points for ZAKSA.

Three points also for PSG Stal Nysa who, in the second game of the day, defeated in an interesting direct clash for eight place, LUK Lublin in just three sets (25:21, 25:18, 25:23), led in score by Wassim Ben Tara (18 points).
