CEV Cup: Modena and Roeselare take first step towards semifinals. Karlovarsko – Belchatow 3-2

After first game played yesterday, in which Montpellier defeated Piacenza in four sets, first legs of 2022/23 Cev Cup quarterfinals have been completed today.

Italian powerhouse Valsa Group Modena needed four sets to win on the field of Slovenia’s ACH Volley Ljubljana, partially 18:25, 25:17, 16:25 and 22:25. With the only exception of second sets, the visiting side always had the control of the game, led in score by Turkish opposite Adis Lagumdzija (17 points but with only 39% in attack), and with 5 winning blocks from Dragan Stankovic.
In a great game, Čez Karlovarsko from Czech Republic wasted a 2-0 lead in sets and suffered a comeback from Polish powerhouse PGE Skra Belchatow, but eventually they managed to win the game at tie break (25:23, 27:25, 13:25, 21:25, 15:11).
Close the picture Knack Roeselare, who defeated fellow
countrymen Greenyard Maaseik in all-Belgian derby by 3-1 (25:23, 20:25, 25:23, 25:23) with 12 winning blocks and 27 points from Pablo Koukartsev (56% in attack, 2 aces and 5 winning blocks).
