Austria: leaders Hypo Tirol, Ried and Sokol score three points in the last round of regular season

Title favorite and absolute leaders Hypo Tirol volleyball team celebrated another home win in their last game in the Austrian Bundesliga regular season, beating last placed VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt 3-0 (25:15, 25:15, 25:12) in the 18th Round on Saturday, with starters Luan Weber, Arthur Nath and Mhikael Varblane on the bench. With 17 wins and only one defeat, Innsbruck entered playoffs as favorite while Klagenfurt at the bottom has to fight in the relegation round to stay in the top division.

Relegation round also for TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien, although the great win celebrated today against defending champion Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel in four sets (21:25, 26:24, 25:23, 29:27). This defeat had no consequences for titleholders, as they were already in sixth place before the 18th round.

Another home team prevailed today: UVC McDonald’s Ried, who beat VBC TLC Weiz (7th) in their Raiffeisen Volleydome 3-1 (25:23, 16:25, 25:23, 25:17). The winners improved fourth place, at least for the next 24 hours!
The quarter-final pairings, in fact, will not be known until Sunday evening. TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg (2nd) and SK Zadruga Aich/Dob (3rd) will face each others at 6.30 p.m. in a direct clash for second place. The Carinthians need a win in three or four sets to overtake the Styrians, while Aich/Dob could also fall back to fourth place, while VCA Amstetten NÖ will face UVC Holding Graz.
