CEV Cup: a super Roeselare down Piacenza to take first step towards FINAL!

Semifinals of 2022/23 CEV Cup started today in Belgium with the game between the hosts Knack Roeselare and Italian Cup winners Bluenergy Daiko Volley Piacenza.
The game ended in just three sets (25:20, 25:23, 25:23) in favor of a great Roeselare who, after a bad start in which they had to recover a 4-8 disadvantage, basically dominated the first set.
After a very balanced start, in the second the home were absolutely better, putting down the ball of 16-12 and then also the one of 21-15. However Piacenza, again without Simon, reopened the game but, luckily for the home fans, Roeselare managed to win 25-23.
Third set in basically the same, with Piacenza who recover from 21-19 but, again, the hosts don’t give up: 3-0 and a big step towards grand finale of the competition!
Pieter Coolman was one of the decisive players who create Roeselare’s win scoring a perfect score of 10 points, 3 aces, 2 winning blocks and 100% in attack (5/5), while Pablo Koukartsev ended the game as top scorer with 18 points, 1 block, 1 ace and 52% in attack.
Lucarelli was the only player on the losing side in double digit, 10 points.
Second leg is scheduled next Wednesday, March 15, in Piacenza’s PalaBanca.
