European Golden League: victories for Denmark, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Czech Republic in Round 3

Four matches of Round 3 of European Golden League were played today.
Denmark defeat Portugal at home with the score of 3-1 (25:16, 23:25, 25:14, 25:16) with 23 points from Mads Kyed Jensen and 4 winning blocks of Rasmus Mikelsons. The winners, waiting for tomorrow’s game between Türkiye and Romania, take the lead of the current standings of Pool A.
In Pool B both games scheduled were played. Belgium suffered another defeat, the third in as many games, and this time at home against Ukraine in just three sets (21:25, 21:25, 23:25). Oleh Plonytskyi and Vasyl Tupchii were the most prolific players of the game with 16 and 15 points respectively on the winning side, while Mathijs Desmet scored 14 for the hosts.
In the same Pool, North Macedonia defeated Croatia 3-2 (25:17, 25:22, 22:25, 29:31, 16:14) in front of 2500 home fans. Although Croatia was better in serving and blocking (7 to 3 aces and 12 to 9 winning blocks), a great Nikola Gjorgiev made the difference scoring as many as 30 points, followed by Marino Marelic, who tallied 27 on the other side of the net.
Close the picture the third win in as many games of leaders of Pool C Czech Republic, who defeat Estonia by 3-1 (23:25, 25:16, 25:16, 25:22) with 17 points from Patrick Indra, vice-champion of France with Chaumont, including 3 winning blocks and 3 aces.
On the same Pool, tomorrow Finland will face Slovakia.
