The third day of the NORCECA Pan American Cup Men’s Final Six tournament saw USA, Mexico, and host Canada securing victories in their respective matches.
Super favorite USA maintained their title as unbeaten destroying Puerto Rico in straight sets (25:17, 25:17, 25:11) and showing dominance in all elements, starting from attack (34-19), to block (10-4), and from the service line (9-2), although they conceded slightly more points from errors than their rivals.
Jordan Ewert ended the game as top scorer with 14 points to his name for the winners, closely followed by Camden Gianni with 13, while Puerto Rico’s Klistan Lawrence Vidal scored only eight points.
USA’s record is now 3-0, while Puerto Rico lags behind at 0-3.
In the following match, Mexico demonstrated their prowess against the Dominican Republic, securing also a 3-0 win (25:14, 27:25, 25:17). The winners were better in attacking points (40-32), blocking (10-7), and from the service line (8-1), while Josué López Rios was the most prolific player with 16 points, and his teammate Luis Hernández Baca added 15. Moises Ortiz and Luis David Reinoso Soto scored nine points each for the Dominican Republic.
With this result, Mexico’s score is 2-1 and the Dominican Republic is 0-3.
Close the picture the home team, Canada who continued their winning streak, defeating Cuba with the score of 3-1, partially 25:22, 25:20, 23:25 and 25:16.
The winners were better in attack (43-39), blocking (12-8), and serving (5-3), further benefiting from more error points conceded by their rivals (38-33).
Christopher Byam scored 24 points, while Alejandro González Rodríguez responded with 19 in Cuba’s jersey.
Canada’s perfect record stands at 3-0, whereas Cuba drops to 1-2.
