FIVB Road to Paris Olympic Qualifiers continued with Day 5 of the competition.

Undefeated USA and Japan shine in Today’s clashes
In the latest series of Pool B games in Tokyo, Japan, the United States continued their winning streak, defeating Slovenia by 3-1 (25:18, 21:25, 25:20, 25:19), a victory that bolstered their record to 5-0 and secured a 15 point total in the current charts.
Matthew Anderson was the most prolific player of the game with 16 points, closely followed by Torey Defalco who also contributed with 13. Despite missing their captain Tine Urnaut, Slovenia’s Nik Mujanovic, Alen Pajenk, and Klemen Cebulj had a double-digit in today’s clash.
Hosts Japan, fierce battling for a chance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, secured an emphatic win against Serbia in just three sets (25:17, 25:14, 25:22).
The victory has pushed them ahead of Slovenia into second place in the pool standings. Japan’s Yuji Nishida was the top scorer with 16 points, while his teammates Ran Takahashi and Yuki Ishikawa adding 15 and 14 points, respectively.
In earlier matchups, Türkiye managed to beat Finland in a gripping 3-2 (25:22, 25:23, 23:25, 23:25, 15:8) duel, wasting a 2-0 lead and led again by the Lagumdzija brothers.
Also Egypt made a stellar comeback against Tunisia, but eventually they win, clinching a 3-2 (15:25, 13:25, 25:21, 29:27, 15:9) win with Reda Haikal as the top scorer with as many as 30 points!

Friday’s face-off in Pool C in China saw Poland, led by the exceptional Wilfredo Leon, secure a 3-1 victory over Argentina in a triumph that ensures the European Champions remains unbeaten atop the pool standings.
With scores of 25:23, 23:25, 28:26, and 25:20, the world’s top-ranked team showed their prowess against the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallists. Leon was the man of the match with 23 points, followed by Lukasz Kaczmarek with 15, while Argentina’s most prolific player was Agustin Loser with 13 points.
Earlier, Canada sweep Bulgaria’s Olympic hopes with a convincing 3-0 (25:21, 25:17, 25:18), marking their fourth win in five games. Stephen Maar and Eric Loeppky were decisive, scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively.
Canada’s last match against Belgium could determine their Olympic fate and a victory would seal Canada’s spot in Paris.
About Belgium, fresh off a 3-0 (18:25, 21:25, 17:25) victory over Mexico, remains in race. Ferre Reggers and captain Sam Deroo shined for the winners with 19 and 13 points respectively.
In a clash between teams already outside the top contention, the Netherlands surpassed China in an exciting five-setter, emerging victorious with the score of 2-3 (25:22, 16:25, 16:25, 25:21, 11:15).

In Pool A in Brazil, victories for the hosts Brazil, who down Cuba by 3-1 in a direct clash for a spot in Paris Olympic Games, and three points also for Italy, Ukraine and leaders Germany.
