Italy: a great Padova win the derby against Verona in advance of Round 6!

Round 6 of 2023/24 Superlega CredemBanca started today with Pallavolo Padova who won the derby with Rana Verona with the score of 3-1 (25:17, 13:25, 25:20, 25:23) to join them in the current standings with 7 points.
The hosts, after a first set
almost dominated, disappeared in second set when they suffered the blow of Verona, until a balanced third set that they won thanks to the blows of Mathijs Desmet.
Balanced also the fourth set, but then Verona, taking advantage from three attacks out in a row, two from Gabi Garcia and 1 from Desmet, tried to escape with a dangerous 8-12.
However the hosts don’t give up and, just at the end of the set, reversed the situation: 20-20, then Dzavoronok attacks out, and Desmet put down the ace of 23-21.
An error from Cortesia is worth the 24-22, and a net touch by Plak increases the suspence, but then it is Gardini who close set and game.
Interesting numbers in serving, as the winners, from the service line, scored 10 aces (4 only from Garcia) with only 9 errors!
Verona, on the other hand, closed the game with 5 aces with 19 errors.
MVP of the match Belgian outside hitter Mathijs Desmet with 23 points to his name (10 only in third set) through 51% in attack and 3 aces.
Round 6 will end tomorrow with the other 5 clashes, including two vig matches: in the first one, scheduled at 4pm local time, Valsa Group Modena will face Cucine Lube Civitanova in a big classic of Italian volleyball, while at 5.30pm Sir Susa Vim Perugia (2nd in the standings) will face No.3 Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza.
