CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2023-2024 / ΟΣΦΠ - ΖΑΚΣΑ (ΓΙΩΡΓΟΣ ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΣ / EUROKINISSI)
In a night full of upsets, the 5th week of 2023/24 CEV Champions League Pool stage concluded on Thursday with three matches across Europe, all ended with unexpected results!
In fact, both the last season Super Finalists, Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn-Koźle and Jastrzębski Węgiel, suffered defeats.
Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn-Koźle, who won the CEV Champions League three times, fell to Olympiacos Piraeus. The Greek side, led by the energy of their home crowd, delivered a stunning 3-0 victory with set scores of 25:18, 25:19, and 25:22.
Meanwhile, Jastrzębski Węgiel, another strong contender and a 2023 CEV CHampions League finalist, faced their first defeat of the campaign. In an away match, they were defeated by Guaguas Las Palmas, who emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline (25:23, 19:25, 25:22, 25:15).
In another unexpected match, Vk Lvi Praha secured a win against Greenyard Maaseik, with a score of 3-1 (22:25, 25:17, 25:23, 25:13).
