Austria: Round 15 starts without upsets. 3 points for Hypo Tirol, Ried, Sokol and Aich/Dob

Titleholders HYPO TIROL volleyball team lived up to their role as favorites in the big match of Powerfusion VL Round 15, by beating Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel 3-1 (25:15, 22:25, 25:18, 25:15) on Saturday evening in their USI hall. For the undefeated competition’s leaders this was the 14th success in as many games, and they are now five points ahead of TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, who played one game less (13). The top scorers in front of around 500 spectators were Niklas Kronthaler (18) and Luan Weber (16) for the winners, and Koendert Daan Streutker (14) and Niklas Stooß (12) for Waldviertel.
UVC McDonald’s Ried also achieved a home win in four sets against VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, by winning 25:19, 25:16, 18:25, 25:22 to defend sixth place in the standings now three points ahead of TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien. Top scorers in the Raiffeisen Volleydome were Tomasz Rutecki (18) for the winners, and Bruno Vinti (14), Ben Stockhammer (21) and Moritz Nedetzky (15) on the other side of the net. Klagenfurt is still eighth, as VCA Amstetten NÖ also suffered an away defeat against last-season runners-up SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, 3-0 (25:14, 25:18, 25:20) in just 78 minutes of play. Aich/Dob remain in the race for third place and they are now fifth, just one point behind Waldviertel and UVC Holding Graz.
Top scorers of the day in the JUFA Arena Bleiburg were Bryan Camino Martinez (16) and Angelos Mandilaris (11) for the winners, and Kirill Krasnevski, Maximilian Schober and Franz Hüther (7 each) for Amstetten.
On Sunday, Amstetten will play a delayed game of Round 7 in Hartberg.
Sokol continued their winning streak against last-placed VBC TLC Weiz, securing their quarter-final ticket with a 3-0 (25:17, 25:22, 25:16) win in the Posthalle to get eight points from their three games played in 2024!
