Challenge Cup: Monza trampled over Galatasaray to take first step towards final

After Polish team Projekt Warszawa, who yesterday easily won in Finland, on the field
of Akaa Volley, all easy also for Italy’s Mint Vero Volley Monza in other semifinal of 2023/24 CEV Challenge Cup semifinal, as they literally destroyed Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI Istanbul 3-0 (25:17, 25:14, 25:16), after just 70 minutes of play.
Canadian Stephen Maar ended the game as top scorer with 16 points, 1 block and an impressive 71% in attack, while his fellow countrymen Athur Szwarc and Eric Loeppky also contributed with 12 and 11, respectively.
Miran Kujundzic scored 15 points on the losing side, that struggled a lot in all element and suffered the hosts’ block (12 to 3), serving (7 to 2) and attack 59% to 35%).
Second leg in Turkey is scheduled on Tuesday, February 6, at 8pm (Local Time).
