Austria: Titleholders Hypo Tirol destroy Sokol to secure first place in regular season!

Defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team achieved their first 2023/24 Powerfusion VL goal by winning a delayed game of Round 5 against TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien by 3-0 (25:17, 25:15, 25:17) in just 67 minutes in their USI Hall on Sunday afternoon and thus secured first place in the regular season.
On Monday, second-placed TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg will host fifth-placed team UVC Holding Graz.
HYPO TIROL also won regular season ahead of Hartberg last season, but this time, head coach Stefan Chrtiansky’s team achieved this result as undefeated team, while a year ago they ended with a defeat.
In the last round, HYPO TIROL will be visiting the same Hartberg, and It will be the third duel of the season between these two.
In the first half of the season, titleholders won at tie-break, and in the Austrian Volley Cup semi-finals the Styrians prevailed in four sets at home and thus deprived HYPO TIROL of the chance for their second double title in national trophy in a row.
Sokol scored twelve points in his first five league games in 2024. A week ago in Wien, the team from country’s capital sensationally took a point from HYPO TIROL. Sokol is two points behind sixth place UVC McDonald’s Ried and, in the last round they’ll visit UVC Holding Graz.
