Austria: Quarterfinal Game 1 between Amstetten and Hypo Tirol cancelled! Klagenfurt and Weiz ok in relegation round

No quarterfinal Game 1 in Powerfusion Austrian Volley League Men, due an U15 junior tournament!
The first quarterfinal match between regular season leaders HYPO TIROL Volleyball team and VCA Amstetten was canceled by an organizational mishap by the hosts.
A U15 junior tournament in Amstetten Johann Pölz Halle forced the game to be postponed, and the venue was not ready for the quarterfinal 60 minutes before the start of the game, potentially leading to penalty verification by the Austrian Volleyball Federation (ÖVV).
Originally scheduled for 4pm local time, the game was postponed to 5pm to continue the U15 junior tournament.
However, despite this adjustment, the hall was deemed unfit for play according to ÖVV rules, and the referees decided to cancel the game.

Stefan Chrtiansky, head coach of the HYPO TIROL Volleyball team, expressed his frustration with the situation: “It’s insane, this is absolutely unprofessional. We’ve traveled here, and now we have to go back empty-handed.”

The cancellation of this very important game due to organizational difficulties is undoubtedly disappointing for all involved. Including the fans, who eagerly awaited game, and had to wait in vain for the encounter between the two teams.

“We had twelve teams from Lower Austria fighting for their titles in our hall. The tournament was designed in such a way that the girls and boys stayed for the match afterwards and received their medals,” explains VCA sports director Michael Henschke.
“A little later we would have been ready for the match, but unfortunately without Hypo Tirol. They let down over 100 young people who wanted to see the best team in Austria, including a lot of parents traveling with us, the atmosphere was great in the hall“, he continued.

A statement is now expected on Tuesday about the final decision of ÖVV.

Other two games were played today with VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt achieved second away wins in the powerfusion VL Men relegation round at the weekend. The current leaders beat UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn 3-0 and VC Hausmannstätten 3-2 (18:25, 23:25, 25:22, 25:18) on Sunday. 15:10).
The second top division team in relegation round, VBC TLC Weiz, won 3-0 (25:19, 25:23, 25:23) on the field of Oberbank STEELVOLLEYS Linz-Steg. For the Styrians it was the first game in the fight for a powerfusion VL ticket in the coming season. On Tuesday, Weiz welcome the team from Hausmannstätten.
