Poland: Cuprum Lubin down Katowice in just 3 sets in advance of Round 29!

Penultimate Round of 2023/24 Plusliga regular season, Round 29 or if you prefer Round 14 of second leg, started today with the decisive clash between KGHM Cuprum Lubin and GKS Katowice, won by the home team with a clean 3-0 (25:22, 25:23 and 25:19).
Despite the absence of starting setter Danilo Gelinski, replaced by young Kajetan Kubicki, and Alexander Berger (on the bench), the winners played a very concrete game and were better in the decisive moments of first two sets, to then dominated from start to finish the third one.
MVP of the game Paweł Pietraszko, with 13 points to his name through 44% in attack with 2 winning blocks and 1 of his team’s 7 aces, and double digit also for Wojciek Ferens and Jake Hanes, who added 12 each (4 aces for the second one).
Lukas Vasina was the most prolific player of the game scoring 19 points for Katowice.
A win that is worth the winners’ 13th place in the standings with 26 points, at +2 from today’s rivals and Exact Systems Hemarpol Częstochowa who, on Thursday, will play on the field of Trefl Gdańsk.
Round 29 will continue tomorrow with other two games: Ślepsk Malow Suwałki will face PSG Stal Nysa while, in the evening Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will face Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle who are still fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
