Austria: Waldviertel down Aich/Dob in Game 1 for 3rd place and the others of the day

In 2023/24 Powerfusion VL Men there was a tough fight in Zwettl on Saturday!
Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel defeated SK Zadruga Aich/Dob after 2 houra and 13 minutes of play with 3-2 (30:28, 25:23, 21:25, 18:25, 15:11) home win in best-of-3 Series for third place.
In the first leg of the duel for fifth place, UVC McDonald’s Ried was defeated by UVC Holding Graz at home with the score of 1-3 (21:25, 23:25, 25:23, 15:25).
The winner of this clash receives the final European Cup ticket.
Away win also in the first game for seventh place, with VCA Amstetten NÖ who lost the first leg in their own hall against TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien with 1-3 (25:27, 25:23, 15:25, 18:25), and there was another away win in the relegation round, in which SPORTUNION z+p St. Pölten lost 1-3 (23:25, 15:25, 25:19, 20:25) against VBC TLC Weiz. The Styrians thus kept the chance alive of still managing to stay in the Austrian eite competition, but St. Pölten still keep their hopes alive as they’ll face last-placed UNIONvolleys Bisamberg-Hollabrunn on Sunday. If they’ll win, promotion would be achieved!
