Poland: Jastrzębski Węgiel and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie to semifinals!

In quarterfinal rematch of the 2023/24 PlusLiga, Jastrzębski Węgiel overcame Indykpol AZS Olsztyn with a score of 3-1 (21:25, 25:14, 25:13, 25:23).
After a dominant 3-0 victory in the first match, regular season winners faced an initial setback but quickly regained control of the match, winning the subsequent sets.
Jean Patry led the winners with 14 points to his name through 69% in attack and 2 of his team’s 11 winning blocks (only 2 for the rivals), followed by Norbert Huber and Rafał Szymura, each contributing with 11, 5/5 and 100% in attack for the first one, with 2 winning blocks and 4 aces.
On the losing side, Alan Souza was the most prolific player with 13 points but only 34% in attack.
In second match of the day, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie narrowly defeated PSG Stal Nysa 3-2 (23:25, 20:25, 25:15, 25:21, 15:9). Despite losing the first two sets, second-placed in regular season staged a remarkable comeback to clinch the victory, having already taken the first match 3-0.
To make the difference, a great performance from the service line, with 14 aces and 4 players in double digit: top scorer Bartosz Kwolek, with 19 points to his name through 58% in attack, Mateusz Bieniek who also contributed with 16, followed by Trevor Clevenot and Karol Butryn, with 13 and 11 points respectively.
This win secures them a semifinal berth in which they will face the winner between Projekt Warszawa and Bogdanka LUK Lublin.
