3 min read

Round 5 of 2024/25 Powerfusion VL Men has been played throughout weekend, with the only exception of the game between VCA Amstetten NÖ and VBK Kelag Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, scheduled next Sunday.
On Thursday evening, UVC McDonald’s Ried extended their winning streak with a 3-2 (25:18, 21:25, 26:24, 22:25, 15:11) home win against UVC Holding Graz at their Raiffeisen Volleydome, and now have 14 points to stay to the top of the standings, at least until Saturday.
While Ried dropped a point for the first time this season, Graz lost in the tie-break for the third time in a row!
On Friday, TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien celebrated a 0-3 (18:25, 20:25, 18:25) win on the field of newcomers Sportunion z+p St. Pölten, led by MVP and top scorer Jakub Kočvara, author of 14 points.
On Saturday, titleholders HYPO TIROL volleyball team won the big match against cup winner SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in the JUFA Arena Bleiburg with the score of 3-0 (25:20, 25:18, 25:19). The Champions League participant made the difference in all elements, while the Lower Carinthians were missing their starting setter Henrique Adami, replaced by 18-year-old Lukas Micheu. HYPO TIROL suffered the absence of injured Nicolai GrabmĂŒller, but they continue to lead the table with the maximum number of points, while Aich/Dob is third behind Ried.
Last season runners-up TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg celebrated a 3-1 (25:22, 21:25, 25:21, 25:14) home win over Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel to improve their fourth place. Lukas Glatz contributed 26 points to the win, while Dorde Knezevic added 21. Niklas Stooß (21) and Paul Nusterer (13) were the most prolific players for the seventh-placed Waldviertel.

Sunday is all about the Austrian Volley Cup Men’s round of 16. The big match will be Hartberg against HYPO TIROL. Last season, this duel took place in the semifinals, and then the Styrians won in their home hall.
The first quarterfinalist is VCA Amstetten NÖ, who won by 3-1 (25:18, 19:25, 25:20, 25:21) against second division team VBC TLC Weiz on Saturday.
