CEV Cup: also Ziraat and Tours to quarterfinals!

Playoffs of 2024/25 CEV Cup continued today with other two games.
After struggling more than expected in first leg in Spain, Turkish powerhouse Ziraat Bank Ankara sweep Guaguas Las Palmas in just three sets, 3-0 (25:18, 25:23, 25:21). Better in all elements, the winners were led in score by three players who left the court in double digit: Matt Anderson, top scorer with 12 points through 50% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block, closely followed by Wouter Ter Maat, who added 11 with the same attack efficiency and 1 block too, and Bedirhan Bülbül, who added 10 including 3 blocks and an impressive 88% in attack, while Francisco Bezzerra scored 18 points on the losing side.
Predictions respected also in second game played today.
Despite a 2-3 (25:19, 20:25, 25:21, 22:25, 12:25) home defeat against Switzerland’s Volley Amriswil, Tours VB from France progress to quarterfinals thanks to four sets
success in first leg. In fact, they needed two sets.
They joined to quarterfinals Poland’s Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, who yesterday eliminated Pafiakos Pafos from Cyprus.
Tomorrow we will know the last quarterfinalist, with italian powerhouse Trentino Itas who will welcome CSM Corona Brasov after a four sets win in first leg in Romania.
