Marcelo Mendez officially ended his role as Argentina’s head coach after their 0–3 loss to Italy in the Round of 16 at 2025 FIVB Volleyball World Championship.
“This stage of my life is over,” he said after the match.
“We worked hard during these years, saw young players develop, and always fought with dignity. I leave proud of what we achieved together.”
In six years with Argentina, he guided the team to historic success, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medal as well as 2023 South American title.
Previously he coached top clubs in Brazil and Poland, and will continue his career next season as head coach of italian powerhouse Trentino Volley.
