WCH 2025: Czech Republic reach a historic quarterfinal after sweeping Tunisia – Iran stun Serbia!

Czech Republic celebrated today an amazing victory to reach 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship quarterfinals for the first time in history.
In Pasay City, they overpowered Tunisia in straight sets, 3-0 (25:19, 25:18, 25:23), to secure its place among the top eight.
Opposite Patrik Indra led the charge with 14 points, closely followed by his teammates Jan Galabov and Lukas Vasina who added 13 points each.
For Tunisia, Oussama Ben Romdhane and Ali Bongui skored 10 points each.

“We’re writing Czech volleyball history. Dreams do come true, but our journey isn’t over yet,” said Jan Galabov after the game.

Czech Republic will now meet Iran on Thursday, who stunned Serbia by winning the last Round of 16 game with the score of 2-3 (25:23, 19:25, 26:24, 22:25, 9:15).
The winners, who already played an impressed Pool stage who also performed a dominant win over Brazil, player a hard-fought game, but Iran showed a remarkable resilience, fighting back in every set and outclassing Serbia in the decisive fifth set, leaving them with just nine points.
Top scorers Ali Hajipour and Morteza Sharifi led the charge with 23 points each, while Serbia’s Dražen Luburić left the court as the match’s overall top scorer with 27 points, supported by Miran Kujundžić with 17.
Iran will face Czech Republic on Thursday.
