Poland: ZAKSA down Gdansk at tie break. Aluron back to the top again after a win over Resovia

After the advance played on Thursday, in which JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel won at tie break on the field of InPost ChKS Chełm, and the tie break successes of PGE Projekt Warszawa and Barkom Każany Lwów, Round 20 of 2025/26 Plusliga continued today with other two games.
In the first one, ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle also close the contest at tie break with a dramatic 3-2 (25:20, 22:25, 25:15, 17:25, 15:12) win over Energa Trefl Gdańsk.
After more than two hours of hard-fought play, the hosts held their nerve in the deciding set to seal the win.
The match showed several ups and downs in both sides from start to finish. ZAKSA struck first, Trefl answered back, and neither side could fully take control until the fifth set, where the hosts were better in the closing rallies.
Gdańsk’s opposite hitter Aliaksei Nasevich delivered a standout performance, scoring a match-high 33 points and keeping his team alive throughout the clash, while the winners countered with a balanced attack, led by Kamil Rychlicki, who left the court with 20 points to his name, while Igor Grobelny added 17 points.
In the evening, Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie needed four sets and a hard-fought game to prevail over Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, 3-1 (25:23, 19:25, 34:32, 25:22) to regain, once again, first place in the standings, now at +from Projekt Warszawa.
Bartłomiej Bołądź, who started from the bench and left the court with 7 points to his name through 77% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block earned MVP honors, while Aaron Russel ended the game as top scorer with 19.
Round 20 will continue tomorrow with the clash between Cuprum Stilon Gorzów and Indykpol AZS Olsztyn.
