Champions League: PGE Projekt Warszawa to Quarterfinals! Trentino Itas eliminated at Golden Set!

Italian powerhouse Itas Trentino said goodbye to 2025/26 CEV Champions League, and they did it in their playoffs round against PGE Projekt Warszawa.
After a tie break win in Poland, they collapsed with the same result, 2-3 (23:25, 25:19, 25:19, 21:25, 12:15), at their BTS Arena, to lose also decisive golden set with a clear 11-15 after more than two hours and 40 minutes of play!

After losing first set with the minumum gap, the hosts easily won the next two both 25:19, and then the team from Poland’s capital started to play, improving their level with Bartosz Gomułka (24 points at the end of the match through 51% in attack and 1 block) and MVP Yurii Semeniuk (15 through 67% in attack and 5 blocks), performing a great comeback from 7-4 in Golden Set!
Théo Faure, absolute top scorer of the match with 34 points through 64% in attack, 3 aces and 1 block, and Daniele Lavia, who added 20 with 4 blocks and 2 aces were not enough as their team has been eliminated in Round of 16 for second time in club’s history, after 8 editions of Champions League as protagonists.
Tomorrow Belgium’s Knack Roeselare will welcome another team from Poland, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, after a clean straight sets defeat in first leg.
