Italy: Perugia one step towards 2026 title! Lube defeated in four sets on the road

After a straight sets home win of Sir Susa Scai Perugia in Game 1 on Thursday, 2025/26 Superlega CredemBanca Final continued today with another great win of regular season winners Sir Susa Scai Perugia, able to recover after a weak start, losing first set and struggling also in the second one, to eventually celebrated a 1-3 (25:21, 22:25, 22:25, 23:25) win at a full-packed Eurosuole Forum, with 4.198 volleyball fans.
After two hours of intense play, Perugia is thus just one step to the title, the third one of their history.
MVP and protagonist of the match Wassim Ben Tara, who left the court with 23 points to his name through 56% in attack with 4 block and 1 ace, well supported by Oleh Plotnytskyi, who added 18, including the one that closed the game, and Kamil Semeniuk, also in double digit with 13 and the one that closed the decisive second set, initially dominated by the hosts.
For the hosts, Mattia Bottolo was the most prolific player of the match with 16 points, while Aleksandar Nikolov added 14 but with only 34% in attack. Good performace from Eric Loeppky, who recorded 14 points too through 55% in attack, but he wasn’t enough to change the result of the game.
Now the best-of-five series move again to Perugia where, on Wednesday, Perugia will welcome Civitanova for an exciting Game 3, in a strong position to close the series in front of their home fans.
