Poland: Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie Champions of Poland for first time in history! Lublin defeated in decisive Game 5

After an almost one-sided Game 1 won by Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in straight sets, Bogdanka LUK Lublin able to tie series 1-1, again Lublin who won Game 3 on the road, and Aluron who leveled the score in Game 4, 2025/26 Plusliga has been completed today with a historical win of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, 3-1 (15:25, 25:21, 25:14, 25:21), in decisive Game 5, claiming first title in front of their home fans!
After a third place in 2020/21, back-to-back silver medals in 2023/24 and 2024/2025 (last season against Lublin too), they finally climb to the top and capture their first-ever PlusLiga title.
Lublin started strong in first set, with a clean 15-25 win before the reply of the hosts, able to tie the score with a block from Jackson Young. And then they never looked back, by winning third and fourth one without major problems, led by MVP Aaron Russell, who led the charge with 16 points to his name through 44% in attack and 1 ace, closely followed by
Bartłomiej Bołądź, who added 15 through 52% in attack, 2 blocks and 1 ace. Double digit also for an excellent Jurij Gladyr, who also contributed with 11 points through 80% in attack, 5 blocks and 1 ace, and Bartosz Kwolek, who added 10.
Nothing to do for Lublin, who failed to catch their second title despite the efforts of Wilfredo Leon, top scorer of the match with 18 points to his name through 59% in attack, 1 ace and 1 block, and Mateusz Malinowski, who added 14.
But the season is not over yet for the new champions of Poland as, on Saturday, will face champions of Turkey Ziraat Bankkart in second semifinal of Champions League in Turin, Italy!
