Now it’s official! Lube Sign Simeon Nikolov to a Three-Year Deal

3 min read

As already announced, italian powerhouse A.S. Volley Lube made official the signing of Bulgarian setter Simeon “Moni” Nikolov on a three-year contract. Born in 2006 and standing 208 cm tall, he joins the club after spending the 2025/26 season with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk in the Russian Super League.

This is a major signing for the club, which has secured one of the brightest and most highly regarded young talents in world volleyball.
Despite his young age, Nikolov has already established himself at the highest level, both with his club and the Bulgarian National Team, even helping his country claim the silver medal at the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship. Widely considered an international star, he is a player who has earned the admiration of fans, volleyball experts and top clubs around the world.

Simeon is the younger brother of Alex Nikolov, already outside hitter for Cucine Lube Civitanova, who recently further strengthened his bond with the club by extending his contract until 2029 too.

I am happy and excited to begin this new adventure,” said Simeon Nikolov in the club’s official press release “I have always dreamed of playing in the Italian SuperLega. My dream wasn’t simply to come to Italy, but to play for one of the country’s biggest clubs. Today that dream comes true with my move to Lube, a club that is always fighting for the highest goals. I am coming to Civitanova to work hard, win trophies and become the best setter in the world!

Nikolov came through the youth system at Levski Sofia, progressing all the way to the first team. During his time with the Bulgarian club, he won the national U18 championship in 2022/23 and was part of the squad that captured both the Bulgarian League title and the Bulgarian Super Cup in 2023/24.
He then followed in his brother’s footsteps by moving to the United States to play for Long Beach State University, where he helped the team win the NCAA National Championship. He subsequently signed with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, finishing third in both the Russian Super League and the Russian Cup during the 2025/26 season.
Nikolov’s breakthrough with the Bulgarian senior national team came with the silver medal at the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship. Before that, he had already enjoyed considerable success at youth level, winning the 2024 U21 Balkan Championship, claiming silver at the 2024 CEV U21 European Championship, and previously earning bronze medals at both the U21 and U19 European Championships.
