After the advance played on Thursday, in which Chaumont recorded third win in as many games on the field of Sète, Round 3 of 2026/27 Alterna Volstar continued today with other four games.

Spacer’s Toulouse continued their impressive start with a 3-1 victory over previously unbeaten AS Cannes, extending their winning streak to three matches and collecting the maximum nine points available from their opening fixtures, like Chaumont.
For Toulouse, it is their best start to a season since 2014, underlining the momentum building around Diogenes Zagonel’s side. MVP Daniel Bala led the way with 21 points to his name through 62% in attack and 3 acea, while Toulouse’s balanced attack proved decisive after Cannes levelled the match in the second set. The hosts responded emphatically, winning the third 25-17 and closing out the match 25-19. Four Toulouse players finished with at least 10 points, a testament to the variety of their offensive options: Daniel Bala, Redi Bakiri who added 14, Tibo Rippert with 13 and Jules Duthoit with 12.
Tim Peter played a great game for Cannes, leaving the court with 18 pointa to his name through 70% in attack and W blocks. The result also ended his team’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

One of the biggest surprise of the round came in Paris, where the home side swept reigning champions Montpellier 3-0 (25:20, 26:24, 25:23).
The scoreline suggests a straightforward evening, but the visitors remained competitive throughout, particularly in a second set that went beyond 25 points. Paris held their nerve in the closing stages to secure a significant victory against the defending champions, who had already been pushed to five sets in each of their first two league matches. After opening the season with a straight-sets win over Saint-Nazaire before losing to Chaumont, Paris now have another important result to build on.

Plessis-Robinson, meanwhile, secured a valuable 3-1 win over Narbonne, earning their first victory of the campaign after opening the season with defeats against Chaumont and Montpellier. The hosts took the first set 25-15, but Narbonne responded with a 25-20 win to level the match. Plessis-Robinson regained control in the third, winning 25-21, before finishing strongly at 25-15 in the fourth.
For Narbonne, the defeat halted the progress made with their five-set victory over Royan earlier in the week.
MVP Tom Lavigne led the charge today with 19 points to his name through 60% in attack, 2 aces and 1 block, well supported by Timo Beriot, who added 16,

The most dramatic finish of the evening came in Royan, where the newly promoted side edged Tours 3-2 (25:23, 25:19, 22:25, 18:25, 15:13)!
Royan won the opening two sets and looked poised for another major result after their memorable opening-round victory over Montpellier, but Tours fought back to force a deciding set.
The visitors’ recovery set up a tense finish, with Royan ultimately holding on to claim their second win in three matches. Tours, who had already won a five-set encounter against Tourcoing earlier in the week, took another point from a match that could have gone either way. Cheik Diop led the winners with 19 points to his name through 53% in attack and 1 ace, Maxime Hervoir added 14 and Hugo de Leon 12. For Tours, bomber Vasilii Molotkov was the most prolific player with 19 points through 57% in attack and 2 aces, closely followed by Leandro Santos and Earvin Ngapeth, who added 18 each.

With Toulouse and Chaumont both maintaining perfect records, the early title picture is beginning to take shape. Paris’ victory over Montpellier adds another twist to the standings, while Royan are proving that their promotion to the top flight has not diminished their competitive edge. The season is still in its early stages, but the opening rounds have already delivered plenty of evidence that the French championship could be an intriguing contest.
Round 3 will close tomorrow with last two games both scheduled at 17.00 local time: Poitiers will welcome St-Nazaire, while Tourcoing will face Nice.
