After two advances played yesterday, in which ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle finally opened their league account with a straight-sets victory away at Energa Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów recovered from losing the opening set to beat Energa Trefl Gdańsk, Round 3 of 2026/27 TAURON Liga continued today.
Ślepsk Malow Suwałki finally have their first victory of the 2026/27 TAURON Liga season.
Playing in front of their home supporters at Suwałki Arena, Piotr Graban’s team defeated NEONET Norwid Częstochowa 3-1 (25:21, 25:15, 19:25, 25:18), collecting three important points after losing their first two matches.
The hosts needed a little time to find their rhythm in the opening set, but recovered from an early setback to draw level at 13-13. From there, Suwałki gradually took control, producing a decisive run towards the end of the set to win 25-21. The momentum carried into the second, where Ślepsk quickly established a 10-5 advantage and never allowed Norwid to get back into contention. The 25-15 scoreline reflected the hosts’ growing confidence and their control of the game.
Norwid, who had opened the season with an impressive five-set victory over Asseco Resovia Rzeszów before losing to Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, finally found a response in the third set. The visitors improved their attacking efficiency and blocking, built an early 10-7 lead and managed to keep Suwałki at a distance. Their 25-19 win briefly reopened the contest.
However, the home side made sure there would be no comeback. Ślepsk started the fourth set aggressively, racing into a 6-1 lead and maintaining that advantage until the finish. Norwid tried to close the gap, but the hosts remained composed and secured the set 25-18, completing their first win of the campaign.
Bulgarian international Asparuh Asparuhov was named MVP, providing a fitting highlight to an evening in which Suwałki finally translated their potential into a full three-point result. He left the court with 19 points to his name through 60% in attack, while Bartosz Filipiak also contributed with 21, 55% in attack and 5 of the winners’ 5 aces!
Oskar Madsen was the most prolific player on the losing side with 15 points.
For Graban’s team, the victory is an important boost after defeats against Jastrzębski Węgiel and GKS Katowice. Norwid, meanwhile, leave Suwałki empty-handed and will be looking to respond in their next match.
The two teams now face away assignments in the next round: Ślepsk Malow travel to Warsaw to meet PGE Projekt Warszawa, while Norwid Częstochowa visit Podziemia Kredowe ChKS Chełm.
Round 3 will continue tomorrow with other three games: BOGDANKA LUK Lublin will face GKS Katowice, PGE GiEK SKRA Bełchatów will welcome Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie while, in the evening, Stilon Gorzów will face PGE Projekt Warszawa.
