Tourcoing Volley-Ball Lille Métropole continued their positive start to the 2026/27 Alterna Volstar season with a straight-set victory over Arago de Sète in Thursday’s opening match of the fifth round. The 3–0 scoreline might suggest a comfortable evening for the hosts, but the numbers tell a different story: Sète remained competitive throughout, with all three sets decided by just a handful of points, partially 25:23, 25:23 and 29:27.

Tourcoing had to show composure in the closing stages of the opening set, eventually taking it 25–23. The second followed an almost identical pattern, with Sète once again staying within reach before the home side found the decisive points to secure another 25–23 win, after a Sète’s comeback from 16-12.
The visitors refused to give up in the third set and pushed the contest beyond the regular 25-point threshold. However, Tourcoing once again demonstrated greater consistency when it mattered most, eventually closing out the match 29–27 to complete the sweep without conceding a set.
The victory represents another positive step for Tourcoing, who had already collected nine points from their opening four matches and established themselves among the leading teams in the standings. Their latest success takes them to 12 points, strengthening their position in the upper part of the table as the fifth round continues.

MVP Oussama Ben Romdhane (62% in attack, 1 block and 3 aces) and Venislav Antov (52% in attack and 1 ace) led the winners with 17 points each, while Robbert Andringa added 13. Tristan Schlienger top-scored Sète with 23 points to his name through 63% in attack and 4 aces, but he wasn’t enough.
For Sète, the situation remains considerably more difficult. Having started the evening without a point after four league matches, they were once again unable to turn competitive performances into a result. The narrow margins in all three sets offer some encouragement, but the team will need to find a way to convert those crucial moments if they are to reverse their difficult start to the campaign.
Tourcoing, meanwhile, can take confidence from another clean-sheet victory and the ability to manage three closely contested sets. In a championship where early consistency can make a significant difference, collecting all three points without dropping a set is an important reward.

Round 5 will continue tomorrow with other 2 games: Nice will welcome undefeated Chaumont, while Poitiers will face Paris.
