Cuprum Lubin recorded a historic victory in the Polish Volleyball Championship: in Round 3 of the 2019/20 PlusLiga regular season, they surpassed title favorites PGE Skra Bełchatów in a thrilling match lasted five sets, partially 25:14, 16:25, 25:20, 23:25, 15:12. It was the first victory of Lubin in the season and also a historic one against the rivals, knowing that they lost all previous 10 matches to Belchatow! Jakub Ziobrowski was the top scorer on the winning side with 25 points and was named MVP of the match while serbian Dušan Petković scored one point more for Belchatow.

The agony of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów went on: they fell to Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in four sets and remained winless (0-3)! The Czech Jan Hadrava was on a high level for the winning side with 24 points.

Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle were victorious in Round 3 derby vs. Jastrzębski Węgiel. The two team met for the 78th time in the history of PlusLiga. Today’s hosts Jastrzębski had a slight lead in mutual encounters prior to the match (41:36) but the last time they beat ZAKSA was more than four and a half years. And it turned out that Jastrzębski will have to wait for the next victory at least for a few months when these two will meet in the second part of the current season.
Thus, ZAKSA silenced more than 3,000 fans at packed stands of the Sports and Entertainment Hall in Jastrzębie-Zdrój: 3-0 (25:23, 25:21, 25:20). Łukasz Kaczmarek was the most prolific player for undefeated ZAKSA with 14 points even if French libero Benjamin Toniutti was named MVP of the match. Tomasz Fornal was the only double-digit player in Jastrzębski, who suffered their first defeat in the season, with 12 points.
